Build your own AI-powered YouTube production stack.
Faceless YouTube video production, assembled from a Google Sheet, your own API keys, and tools you can open and change. Not another expensive monthly subscription for an all-in-one video tool.
The workflow may be similar. The pricing and ownership are not.
Subscription tools are like buying coffee from a shop. They are convenient, packaged, and ready to use. Using your own API keys is more like putting the machine on your counter. You handle more of the setup, but you pay the providers directly and keep greater control over the workflow.
The right choice depends on how much you produce, how much control you want, and whether convenience is worth the recurring cost.

Monthly AI tool subscriptions
You pay a recurring feeMost all-in-one tools charge a monthly subscription, often with usage limits or credits. Higher output may require a larger plan or additional credits.
Convenience is built into the priceThe subscription covers more than the underlying AI usage. You are also paying for the interface, hosting, and the company’s margin. That can be worth paying for, but it will usually cost more than accessing the providers directly.
Your workflow depends on the platformPrompts, files, history, and project settings may remain inside the product. Moving to another service can mean rebuilding parts of the process.
You are renting the machineThe platform controls the interface, pricing, limits, and available providers. When those change, your workflow may have to change with them.
More convenient to start. Higher recurring cost and less control.
The machine on your counter
API pricing with your own keys
You pay for what you useUsage is metered by number of words in the script, voiceover length, number of generated images or video processing time. When you produce less, the variable cost usually falls.
The usage rates are visibleEach provider publishes its own prices, which makes it possible to estimate the cost per script, cost per video, and monthly production cost before scaling.
You control the accounts and keysThe prompts, files, and workflow logic remain under your control. You can replace one provider without necessarily rebuilding every other stage.
More channels usually mean more usageCosts increase with the amount you generate rather than automatically requiring another full set of subscriptions for each channel.
One time set up. Lower marginal cost, and the workflow stays yours forever.
Every AI video uses the same production stages
A finished faceless YouTube video still needs a script, visuals, voiceover, editing, and human judgement. What changes is how you pay for each stage and who owns the workflow.

The stack
It runs on tools you connect yourself.
BuildTuber does not sit between you and the tools you use. You create the accounts, keep control of the API keys, and pay each provider directly.
Here is the complete stack, in the same order the work moves through it.
01
The workspace and the logic
The workflow lives inside Google Sheets. Each row tracks a scene, section, or production step, while Apps Script connects the Sheet to the different AI services.
You can inspect the process, change the prompts, replace a provider, or make your own copy at any time.

Apps ScriptThe wiring between them
02
The tools that plan and write
Claude can write the long-form script one section at a time. A running summary is carried forward so later sections remember what has already been established and avoid unnecessary repetition. Once the script is complete, Gemini turns it into scene-by-scene visual prompts.

03
The tools that create the video
Runware generates the scene images. ElevenLabs produces the voiceover. CapCut brings the visuals and narration together for the final edit. The tools handle the repetitive production work. You still decide which outputs are good enough to use.

BuildTuber does not resell access to any of these services or add a markup to their usage. You use your own accounts and pay the providers at their published rates. Google Sheets and Apps Script are free to use. The remaining costs depend on the providers and the amount you generate.
The number
About $0.96 in direct tool costs per finished video
This figure comes from one format I produce myself: 90-minute sleep documentaries. It covers the direct software and API costs, not my time, research, thumbnails, hardware, or other business expenses. I am showing the calculation because “cheaper than a subscription” is not useful unless the numbers behind it are visible.
One 15,000-word script
$0.30
Generated section by section through the Claude API using my own key and billed directly by Anthropic.
One finished video
$0.96
The script cost plus an allocated share of my $20 CapCut subscription, based on roughly 30 uploads in a month.
Your cost will vary with script length, model choice, retries, narration, image usage, and monthly upload volume. Provider pricing can also change over time. The full calculation, assumptions, and exclusions are explained in the guide.
You are already publishing, or preparing to start, and production time is becoming the main bottleneck.
You prefer a workflow you can inspect and edit rather than a black-box tool with a single Generate button.
You want to understand the real cost per script and per video instead of relying only on fixed monthly subscriptions.
You are comfortable creating provider accounts, using your own API keys, and managing a small amount of setup.
It will not suit you if
You expect a new channel to reach $10,000 a month within a few months because some guru promised it.
You are looking for guaranteed views and revenue. No production system can promise those outcomes.
You expect the production system itself to make a video go viral without investing time on right topics & strong packaging.
You want a one-click magic tool that turns a topic into a finished video with no review or decision-making in between.
Where to start
BuildTuber is organized around three parts of running a faceless YouTube channel. Start with the problem you are trying to solve, then explore the guides, tools, and products connected to it.
One email when a new guide ships. The full method, not a teaser. Unsubscribe whenever.
Frequently asked questions
What is BuildTuber?
BuildTuber teaches faceless YouTube creators how to build their own production workflows using tools such as Google Sheets, Apps Script, Claude, image models, voiceover services, and editing software.
The free guides explain how the systems work. The paid products are finished implementations for creators who would rather save the setup and debugging time.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You need to be comfortable following setup instructions, creating provider accounts, and copying API keys.
Most of the code can be generated and repaired with Claude or ChatGPT. Understanding what each stage should do is more important than knowing how to write the code yourself.
What does “bring your own API key” mean?
Bring your own API key, or BYOK, means that you create an account directly with the AI provider and connect your own key to the workflow. The provider bills you for what you use. BuildTuber does not resell the model access or add a markup to your API usage.
Is BuildTuber a YouTube automation tool?
BuildTuber is not a one-click tool that turns a topic into an uploaded video without review. It provides modular production systems for research, scriptwriting, storyboarding, images, voiceover, and assembly. The workflow handles repetitive production work, while you remain responsible for the topic, accuracy, packaging, quality, and final decision to publish.
Can AI-generated videos be monetized on YouTube?
Using AI does not automatically make a video ineligible for monetization. The finished content still needs meaningful originality, editorial judgement, and value for the viewer. Repetitive, mass-produced, or lightly modified content carries a much greater risk than a carefully researched and reviewed video.
How much does it cost to make a faceless YouTube video?
The cost depends on the video length, models, number of images, voiceover, retries, editing tools, and monthly output.
In one workflow I use for 90-minute sleep documentaries, the direct API and allocated software cost is approximately $0.96 per finished video. That excludes my time, research, thumbnails, etc
Can I build the workflows myself for free?
Yes. BuildTuber publishes the method, prompts, architecture, and setup logic through its free guides and builds. You still pay the AI providers for your own usage. The paid BuildTuber products are for creators who want a tested system without spending as much time assembling and debugging it.
Will these tools make my channel successful or viral?
No production tool can guarantee views, subscribers, monetization, or revenue. The workflows can reduce production time and cost, which gives you more room to test topics and improve. Channel growth still depends on niche selection, ideas, titles, thumbnails, retention, judgement, and consistent learning from audience data.
How do I start a faceless YouTube channel?
Start by choosing a niche with visible audience demand and enough repeatable video ideas. Then decide on a sustainable format, build a simple production workflow, and publish enough videos to learn from real audience behaviour.
Do not begin by buying every tool. Validate the topic and format before increasing production costs.
What tools do I need to make faceless YouTube videos?
A basic workflow needs a research process, a scriptwriting tool, visuals, voiceover, and a basic editing software
BuildTuber currently uses combinations of Google Sheets, Apps Script, Claude, Gemini, Runware, ElevenLabs, and CapCut. The exact provider can change because each stage is modular.
