What Auto Edit v2.0 does
Auto Edit handles the assembly stage of a faceless video. You bring the finished assets, and the notebook works out when each scene should appear and builds the timeline for you.
Version 2.0 now supports both still images and video clips. Static images can use automatic Ken Burns-style movement, and smooth transitions can be added between scenes so the result feels less like a basic slideshow.
New in Auto Edit v2.0
Video clip support
Mix generated images, stock clips and other video assets in the same project.
Ken Burns auto zoom
Add subtle movement to static images automatically.
Smooth transitions
Soften the cut between scenes without adding them one by one in an editor.
Automatic scene timing
Match each image or clip to the corresponding spoken line.
Colab rendering
The finished video is rendered inside your own Google Colab session.
What you upload
- Your images and/or video clips
- One finished voiceover file
- Your script, with one narration line for each image or clip
Keep the script lines and media files in the same order. One line equals one scene.
How the automatic timing works
The notebook uses the voiceover and script to work out where each narration line begins. It then places the matching image or video clip at that point in the video.
That means you do not need to type timestamps or manually listen through the voiceover while moving scenes on a timeline.
How to use it
- Open the notebook and click Copy to Drive.
- Run the setup cell and wait roughly 30 seconds.
- Run the studio cell. The Auto Edit interface opens below it.
- Upload your images and/or video clips, voiceover and script.
- Choose your editing options, including motion and transitions.
- Click Build Video.
- Keep the Colab tab open while the video renders.
Longer videos can take several minutes. Keep your computer awake until the render finishes.
What it does not do
Auto Edit is an editor and assembly tool. It does not generate the assets for you.
- It does not write the script.
- It does not generate images or video clips.
- It does not create the voiceover.
- It does not choose the topic, hook, title or thumbnail.
You bring the finished ingredients. Auto Edit turns them into the finished timeline and MP4.
Why use this instead of editing the timeline by hand?
Scene-based faceless videos can easily contain 100 to 200 assets. The boring part is not choosing the right scene. It is repeatedly importing files, putting them in order, matching each one to the narration, setting durations, adding movement and repeating the same transitions.
Auto Edit removes that repetitive work while leaving the creative decisions with you.
Free, and runs in your own Colab session
There is no BuildTuber subscription and no API key required for the editing step. The notebook runs in Google Colab using the files you upload for the project.
Google controls the availability and limits of its free Colab tier, so very long or unusually heavy renders may take longer or require you to retry later.
Want the production stages automated too?
Auto Edit starts after your script, visuals and voiceover already exist.
If you also want to turn a finished script into scene prompts, generate the images, create the voiceover and build the render plan inside Google Sheets, use the Faceless YouTube Script to Video Generator.
Frequently asked questions
Does Auto Edit v2.0 support video clips?
Yes. Version 2.0 can mix still images and video clips in the same project. The script still uses one narration line per scene so the assets remain in the correct order.
What is Ken Burns auto zoom?
It adds slow pan-and-zoom movement to static images so they do not remain completely still on screen. Auto Edit can apply this movement automatically instead of making you keyframe every image by hand.
Do I need CapCut or another video editor?
Not for the basic assembly. Auto Edit can sync the scenes, add motion and transitions, and render the finished video in Colab. You can still take the MP4 into CapCut, Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve if you want extra manual editing afterward.
Do I need an API key?
No API key is required for the Auto Edit notebook itself. It works with the images, clips, script and voiceover you provide.
Is BuildTuber Auto Edit free?
Yes. The notebook is free to use. It runs inside your own Google Colab session, subject to Google Colab availability and usage limits.
Does it generate images, clips or voiceover?
No. Auto Edit handles timing, motion, transitions and assembly. Use your own generated or recorded assets, or use the BuildTuber Script to Video Generator if you want the earlier production stages handled too.
